Barry Evans - A Profile

Barry is an independent consultant, coach, trainer and author. He has a broad base of experience having spent the first part of his working life in people facing jobs and then becoming interested in technology and choosing a career in IT. He is originally from Ireland and has worked in Europe, the USA and Australia. He is currently based in the UK.

His latest book is The Ingenious Engine of Reality.

On Functional Philosophy

Barry finds simple solutions to complex problems and specialises in coaching teams of knowledge workers. He is specifically interested in the effects of team dynamics on quality and how teams in 'flow' connect to each other to produce huge intrinsic and extrinsic value.

He says: "Almost every job comes down to putting time into understanding the people involved. Coaching is a natural and very rewarding way to achieve this. Whether it is being a hi-tech coach working in IT with complex projects or simply helping someone learn to read, being a successful coach or manager involves believing in the other person's abilities more than they think they do themselves."

Barry uses pragmatic management and thinking methods built up over years of working in different and challenging environments. If something works he is always interested in finding out why.

He has been a strong advocate of Agile with its pragmatic, minimal process, people based approach since the 1990's. He is also a qualified NLP trainer.
